Andrea Canning A Model Reporter
Remember Andrea Canning, Ch. 9's 5:30 p.m. co-anchor and reporter from 2001 to 2004? You may have seen her doing ABC News reports for Ch. 9 (last week on the State of the Union speech) as an ABC News One correspondent based in Washington D.C.?
Well, you've never seen her like this: She's one of four newswomen modeling for W magazine's "Breaking News" fashion spread in the Febraruy issue. Check it out at

She says she was flattered to be picked for the shoot (an ABC News publicist submitted her photos to the magazine) and to get more attention than the other women (including Laurie Dhue from "Geraldo at Large").
Canning, an Ontario native, says she misses Cincinnati a lot. "I could have stayed in Cincinnati foreever, but I had this dream that I wanted to go to the network." And in a few weeks, she takes another step up the network food chain. She leaves ABC News One and moves to New York, to become a full-time correspondent for the "Good Morning America" weekend shows.
By the way, she says: "I'm not sure these pictures were flattering."
Do you agree? (Gee, knowing how some Anonymous posters have been fixated on local TV women, who knows what kind of response I might get to this one. Just keep it clean and respectful.)

i was sorry to see her leave wcpo but i am glad to see her going up the ladder, maybe she might come back to cinci if a nightly female anchor position opens up
those were attractive photos of ms. canning.
Great to hear shes doing a knock out job.
hey kiese whats up with news5 at 11 new slogan "your top stories and weather in the first 5 minutes"
Every newscast does top stories and a check at weather before the first commerical break.
And a giant leap backward for female reporters looking to be taken seriously.
It's all about the looks, isn't it?
yeah didnt wkrc used to say something to the effect of your top 12 headlines plus no wait weather plus no commercials all in the first 12 minutes
I think she looked really nice, its not often we get to see that side of some people
Hmmm, she is a very attractive woman no doubt. But I kinda agree with her about the "I'm not sure these pictures were flattering."
I've seen her look much better on TV reporting. Her hair style or something makes her look much older in the shoot, she looks like she's in her mid 40's.
Check out picture 7 with Andrea in her see through nylon dress!! Did she know about the lighting for that shot?? Nice curvy hips Andrea ;-)
Also, I was suprised to not see former channel 5 hottie Juliette Vara, now there's a hott woman.
I think it's great! I was actually flipping thru my "W" Magazine over the weekend and said, "Holy Crap, it's Andrea!" It was nice to see her in a FASHION MAGAZINE, which represents her look in a very nice and respectful light. Having socialized with her several times in Cincy, it was very excited to see her in W. ~Amy
As Andrea's boyfriend, I think her W photos were fine. She is absolutely gorgeous and an amazing person.
"Fine"? Is that the best you can do? I'm sure Andrea will be thrilled that her boyfriend thinks her pictures were "fine".
Ms. Canning is simply beautiful, smart & talented. I just can't believe those words wouldn't be the first thing out of anybody's mouth! I think the photographer was still learning how to use the f-stop in his camera. Andrea is a breath-taking muse...whether in front of the cameras or not.
But Mama Mia, can you say: Candice Hunter???
Yeah, Channel 12 used to say:
"Now, 11-minutes of NON-STOP News and Tim Hedrick's/Mike Buresh's NO-WAIT WEATHER. 12 News Tonight, starts NOW."
back in the days when they were 'A New Generation of News' da da da
