Two Cheers. That’s what will replace "Geraldo at Large," which has been canceled, on the WKRC-TV’s CinCW digital CW affiliate. Geraldo Rivera's last syndicate show airs Jan. 26. On Monday, Jan. 29, back-to-back "Cheers" reruns will air
10-11 p.m., leading into the hour of "MASH." Pat O'Brien's "The Insider" gets bumped from
10:30 p.m. to
12:30 a.m. The CinCW also is losing "Party of 5" on Jan. 20. Starting on Monday, Jan. 22, more reruns of "
America’s Funniest Home Vidoes" will air
5 p.m. weekdays.
Over on Channel 64, Maury Povich Show reruns will air at 8 p.m. weekdays starting Jan. 29 to replace the "Megan Mullally Show," which has been canceled. Her last telecast is Jan. 26.
Fall TV News
Here's a really early warning for "Everybody Loves Raymond" fans, who will have to change their habits (and channels) in the fall. Ch. 64 has acquired"“Raymond" reruns from Ch. 12 starting in September. Ch. 12 will replace the sitcom with "Inside Edition" at 7 p.m. in the fall.
Ch 12 also has bought "2-1/2 Men" reruns for fall, but plans for now only to air the sitcom at 7 p.m. on CinCW.
Furman update
So I was driving home last night at 6:30 p.m., and heard Andy Furman reading letters on the second day of his SupertalkFM96.5 talk show. Had he run out of callers already? He took a few calls in the last half-hour, one that went really long from a woman who had never heard him on WLW-AM. Like I said yesterday, getting listeners to switch from AM to FM for talk is his biggest challenge.
Musical Note
Bridgetown native Gary Griffin, a former keyboard player with the Beach Boys, composed and produced the music for PBS' "Edens Lost & Found" 10 p.m. Thursday on Ch. 54 and Dayton's Ch. 16. (It's not on Ch. 48's schedule.) For the past year, Griffin has been playing with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys. They play the Consumer Electronics Show today in Las Vegas, he says.
Reds NoteMarty Brennaman takes his "Hot Stove League" call-in show on the road at 6 p.m. today on WLW-AM to broadcast from the Reds Hall of Fame Museum downtown.
Channel 5 newsThis just in: Randi Ricco,
weekend forecaster at
Dayton's WDTN-TV (Ch. 2), will head down the road to Ch. 5 here after February sweeps. She starts Thursday March 1, News Director Brennan Donnellan announced to the staff today.

Just what TV needs - more stale Cheers and Maury reruns. CinCW so far has been a big waste of electrons. Just how profitable is it for WKRC?
There are two FM sports talk stations in Nashville, I don't see why it won't work here. Oh wait, it will work here in Cincinnati... ten years from now.
What's the big deal with Furman reading emails? Maybe some of the guests on Monday should have been on Sunday.
I agree with ANON 11:57AM. CinCW is a waste. All I see are UPN/WB retreads and PSAs. It's not in high def either. What a waste.
Furman will probably have to pull all his tricks out of the bag in order to have a long tenure on his new station. He no longer has the power and coverage of WLW, nor the additional XM satelite radio listeners....nor does he have Seg Dennison to do most of his leg and grunt work for him. In addition he may have trouble obtaining sponsor revenue.
Geez - give Furman a chance - he's been on the air 3 friggin days...
Furman will have to work 3 HOURS A DAY EVERY DAY! No more Reds, Bengals, UC, XU or other sports that used to give him a short show. Can he do it?
I just wish he would talk sports..He makes everything a controversy. Im not sure how much sports he knows???
At least he's not Lance McCallister.
has anybody else noticed the blocks of either dead air or two feeds running at the same time on 55KRC lately during their automated overnight block?
tuesday night there was at least a total of 20 minutes of dead air during the Coast to Coast AM re-broadcast between 12:30 and 12:50 am; when they were broadcasting, you kept getting interference from a "Fox 5 minute" warning cue!
with all of clear channel's billions, it sure would be nice if they paid a real live air director to pay attention to this stuff!!!
At least Lance McAllister is less painful to listen to than Dave Lapham, with his incessant statistics. "When the Bengals are eight or more points ahead on an even-numbered Sunday, in a odd-numbered month, they have a 68.345 per cent change of converting a 3rd and 5 situation,if the moon is in it's last quarter."
Furman is just sickening. I would rather have root canal surgery than listen to him pick fights with people.
I'm lucky, I still remember that my radio has a dial and an on/off switch.
hey furball is alot better than colerain's most famous alumini tom gamble its sickening how much gamble talks bout colerain.
Gamble talk bout colerain basketball and how they have only 2 games this year
yesterday was sussi's last day and it drew huge numbers for 5 at 5. 5 won the total viewers by .8
Anyone know where Tim "Big Dawg" Lewis or Rome-wannabe Marc Amazon are?
Furman is a no-talent hack. He got his ratings from WLW's big signal and being the lead in to the Reds and other sports.
A "caveman" could be successful on WLW. Oh yeah, that's were Cunningham works. How much does it cost to buy a Marconi award?
CinCW probably doesn't cost WKRC any more than the electricity to broadcast it. Its very cheap to air and they get some advertising revenue. It beats whats on WBQC and at least it's on a digital channel. I refuse to watch non-digital channels now. They look like crap after seeing a DVD quality feed.
what bout bringin back paul the fish sturgeon
I am glad to see an update about Gary Griffin. I hadn't heard anything about him for a while.
Hey 1/10/2007 6:43 PM Anonymous...
Who do you think gives Lapham those stats?
Lance "Fred" McAllister.
Here's an idea for Ch.64.
Get the rights to WKRP.. Nick at Nite doesn't play them anymore. Great lead in to when the DVD's come out in the Spring...WHAT YA THINK!!...I'd watch..
Sports talk in Cincinnati isn't a very easy gig. Consider the products that are on the menu for discussion. Only so much can be said about college hoops. Further, figure heads like Marvin Lewis don't have anything to say. Does anyone care about the Reds anymore? I think this market has enough news to fill a 3 hour evening show. After that it's overkill, diminishing returns. Listening to the WFAN (NYC) is more informative.
