Reds On HDTV Still Up In The Air

Opening Day is 2-1/2 weeks away, and we still don't know if Insight or Time Warner cable will carry the FSN Ohio telecast in HDTV. FSN Ohio's 145-game schedule includes 33 games in HDTV, starting with the April 2 Reds-Cubs opener. But only FSNO has a HDTV deal for here with DirecTV.
Insight: FSNO has a HDTV deal with Insight for Columbus and Louisville, says John Dobken, Insight spokesman. Those systems have a "special events HDTV channel" to accommodate FSNO's Reds games, he says. But the Northern Kentucky Insight system doesn't have a "special events HDTV channel" which could be used for Reds games. "We're still exploring options," Dobken says.
Time Warner: "We'd definitely like to have the games in high-def, so we're working on it," says Karen Baxter, local Time Warner public affairs director. "We really want to do it."
Stay tuned.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to report that a sports event in Cincinnati would be set and ready to go with our cable monopoly - Time Warner Cable - ahead of time? But noooooo...TWC again is going to play it out to the last minute - just remind us of how arrogant they are. Another reason to be glad I switched to DirecTV.

By the way - I saw a mention on Channel 12 last night that Cincinnati Bell is pffering cable TV in Lebanon. Is this true? If so what is it?

I have had HD since Oct 2005. Time Warner has not added 1 new HD channel since then. I do not expect them to do so now.

Cincinnati Bell is purchasing Lebanon's telecommunications system. The city runs its own cable system, and CB will continue to run it for one year with no changes after the sale is finalized. What they will do after that is anyone's guess. But as for right now, CB is not offering anything new to Lebanon residents.

Unless they've started the IPTV service they've been testing for over 2 years now, their TV service is actually a resell of DirecTV.

Yeah, Time Warner is arrogant, but DirecTV isn't. They just strong armed MLB into basically letting them have a monopoly on the Extra Innings package, got Nascar to allow them exclusive rights to their extra package, and have been the sole distributor for the NFL Sunday ticket since it's inception. Those guys are just nice guys while TW is arrogant, makes sense to me.

I have DirecTV and I cannot find the Reds games in HD (when they are broadcast). I checked a few websites with HD schedules listings and none of them show any Reds games! Does anyone know what channel on DirecTV these games are supposed to be on?
