More for "American Idol" fans

For you "American Idol" fans out there:

Jordin Sparks visits with Jay Leno on "The Tonight Show" tonight (11:35 p.m., Ch 5).

Jordin, Blake, Melinda, Sanjaya and others spend Friday night on "Larry King" (9 p.m., CNN), and will probably take calls from viewers.

Were you surprised Jordin won? And now that it's over, where do you see the careers going for Jordin, Melinda or Blake?

Jordin seemed like an outside shot early on but she got better each week. Lakisha blew the roof off the place and set the bar really high for herself with her Dreamgirls performance but then never really was able to top that.

Stehpanie went home way too early, same for Gina. Most of the final 12 guys shouldn't have even been in that group. Some of their eliminations (names already forgotten) were just a formality.

Random thoughts from last night’s show…

Poor Joe Perry… wonder if he realized he’d be playing with Sanjya?

Rueben Studard – did he really win American Idol?

No Chris Daughtry – maybe there is a higher power...

If anything happens to Gladys Knight Melinda Doolittle can step right in, no one will notice...

Thank God for TIVO – more evidence of a higher power…

Double dose of Kelly Clarkson – yeah!

Green Day – why?

Carrie Underwood – WOW!

Unbelievable. 2 hours of results show and they still couldn't make the announcement in the allotted time. Nobody who recorded the show got to see the actual announcement.

After sitting through 2 hours of results show I shouldn't have to go to the internet to find the results.

I do not watch the show and frankly, do not understand the absolute obsession with this show. It is glorified karaoke at best, until the final few singers. I did see highlights of the girl that won and she seems like she can sing. But not to the point that people obsess and water cooler chat the next day. Even more amazing is the fact that NBC Today show (and maybe others) every day after someone gets booted, has a reporter on hand to cover the happenings of a hit show on another network. Network presidents of years past must be rolling on their graves, giving pub to the other guys. Hopefully the facination with this reality crap on TV goes away soon and quality programs will not be sacrificed, as was Jericho and others.

To ANON 9:43 - Maybe if you watched the show you would understand the obsession. It really has become more than glorified kareoke. Which leads to another point about the two-hour results. FOX has turned the finale into a bigger show than simply the results. It isn't 2 hours of dead air. It's 2 hours of high powered entertainment. More Ed Sullivan than reality TV. Also to ANON 9:43 - get real - reality is here to stay. It's cheap and it makes money. At the end of the day TV is still a business. That's why all the networks cover all the shows. They realize this is what America's is talking about - so they report it. Not just NBC on Idol. Random thought - Kelly Clarkson should NOT wear those low ridders at her current size. And Kies - Jordan & Blake were ALREADY on Mike & Juliette this morning on 19.

Howard 100 news on Sirius reported Jordin's victory two days ago - citing three idol insiders in on the fix.

Back to Anon 10:57, explain Sanjaya or whatever his name was, if he was not glorified karaoke, what is?

I did say into the final few weeks, it may be more legitimate, with talented singers. But that above mentioned clown, from the highlights I saw not by watching the show, was horrid. And how long did it take to vote him out??? Doesn't say much for the talent pool that was voted out ahead of him.

BTW, just because it makes money, doesn't make it right or mean I have to watch. The trend will eventually go away from no-talent freak shows, back to legitimate scripted, well produced shows. My hope is, sooner rather than later. Until then Anon 10:57, you will not see me watching much network TV at all.
