Bearcats On National ABC TV?

If the UC Bearcats keep on winning, they could end up on a national ABC TV game next month, says Kirk Herbstreit, ESPN and ABC college football analyst. Has UC football ever been on national broadcast TV?

On WLW-AM's "SportsTalk" last night, Herbstreit told Paul Daugherty that his preliminary TV schedule for possible national ABC broadcasts with Brent Musburger included UC's Nov. 3 game at the University of South Florida in Tampa. USF (5-0) is No. 5 in the AP and USA Today polls; UC (6-0) is No. 15 in the AP poll, and No. 17 at USA Today. Game time for the USF-UC game is "to be announced," which means it will be determined by TV coverage.

Herbstreit, a suburban Dayton native (Centerville), says ESPN's "College Game Day" Saturday will do a feature on UC quarterback Ben Mauk. "Starting Saturday, people are going to see a little bit more about the UC program," Herbstreit said.

I know UC has played often on ESPN, but have the football Bearcats ever been on national broadcast TV?

I can't recall any game broadcast on the network, but the local broadcasts produced by Dave Ashbrock on XIX look every bit as good as any that have been on cable or any that (hopefully) will be on ABC.

I know of one time previously for ABC, and it was not a good experience.

UC played at Auburn in 1986 and got clobbered 52-7.

I think they have been on some ESPN national telecasts.

Please NOT Musberger. He's right up there with George Grande and Reggie Rucker!

yes i agree. The best college football announce team is by far on CBS.Verne and Gary are miles above everybody.
Brent cheers for certain teams. Dan fouts was a color man, but brought him to play by play and he stinks.
I do however like espn's saturday night team of mike patrick and todd blacklidge. Mike patrick is good, but the comment about brittney spears the other night was horrible.
