One Day Wednesday On WGUC-FM

If you're tired of those annoying public radio pledge drives that go one forever, today you can do something about it.

Classical WGUC-FM (90.9) is experimenting with a one-day fund-raiser today, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The station wants to raise $85,000 in 14 hours from about 800 people. As of 9:30 a.m., 'GUC had 249 pledges.

I listened to it this morning, and at least donor noted that he/she was giving more this time for less (interruptions). If this works, WGUC-FM will try shorter fund drives in the future, says Richard Eiswerth, GM for WGUC-FM and sister WVXU-FM.

So it's time to put up, because they've shut up. You can pledge by phone or on the web at

Many versus channel commercials being run on local it being added for the Stanley Cup Finals?

Kind of sad that a 500+ channel cable system does not carry the service.
