If you're tired of those annoying public radio pledge drives that go one forever, today you can do something about it.
Classical WGUC-FM (90.9) is experimenting with a one-day fund-raiser today, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. The station wants to raise $85,000 in 14 hours from about 800 people. As of 9:30 a.m., 'GUC had 249 pledges.
I listened to it this morning, and at least donor noted that he/she was giving more this time for less (interruptions). If this works, WGUC-FM will try shorter fund drives in the future, says Richard Eiswerth, GM for WGUC-FM and sister WVXU-FM.
So it's time to put up, because they've shut up. You can pledge by phone or on the web at http://www.wguc.org/

ReplyDeleteMany versus channel commercials being run on local radio...is it being added for the Stanley Cup Finals?
Kind of sad that a 500+ channel cable system does not carry the service.
