Phil Heimlich on Channel 9, what the hell does he know about the Fiesel case??
Bill Cunningham on 5, what a joke, he's on the air NOT taking any calls during the trial.
Unbelievable collective stupidity....
Sad to say this but...does anyone notice that all of the "experts" are white and have rarely been in courtrooms?
Where's Ken Lawson or the king Leslie?
Where are the real attorneys who really prosecute or defend?
The other main question: Why isn't channel 12 taking full advantage of their second program channel and broadcast this feed on the CW? Likewise, TimeWarner has a few channels avail, like channel 99, that could be used. (remember the rumor of a 24 hour all local news channel on Warner a year or more ago?)

Yeah, cunningham isn't in court...cause he still has a job! and it's not like he can't see the coverage online in 6 different places. jeez, cut the guy some slack. so far, he's been pretty insightful and he's not a dead fish.

This is bigger than Anna Nicole, and the local media is letting me down. There are two rings that could still be filled.
I have been sampling the web site coverage - mostly between wcpo and wkrc. 12's is easier to understand because of the anchor descriptions during the "dull" moments. This is very interesting at times, but I am not sure I would want to watch it on TV all the time.
Monday evening, 2/12, on the first day of jury selection in the Liz Carroll trial, Channel 12 news ran a promo touting thier "unprecedented" coverage of the trial. At that point, wasn't every station's coverage "unprecedented." There had been no precedent, it was day one of the trial. Another example of the ridiculous, over-hyped, exaggeration that is local news.
Not on the subject of the trial, but a few funny things over on 5 this week. One night, signing off on a live shot, Michael Moeley started to say he was with "fox news 9" or something like that. Must have been his old station.
Also, one evening at the end of the weather, Dave Wagner asked Derek Beasley what the normal high temperature is this time of year. Derek said he didn't know & then guessed low to mid 30's. That really showed his inexperience & lack of local knowledge. Knowing the average temps isn't as important as predicting how much snow we get, but considering we have been so far below average for so long, the cold weather is a story unto itself. And for the record the average high is 42 or 43 degrees. Derek's guess wasn't even close.

I actually think its very interesting. I had never seen how a jury is picked until this trial. The case is obviously very sad, but its interesting to see how a trial works. I have been glued to my computer since jury selection began.

Thanks Mr. Burroughs for bringing up something that has absolutely nothing to do with the original thread title. Obviously you have something against Derek and saw this as an opportunity to call him out.
Who cares what the average high and low is? We all know nothing is ever average anyway. I'd personally would rather a meteorologist tell me how much snow we are going to get.

There was to be no wireless access from the start of the trial according to what I heard from Judge Ringland. Not as of today.

Perhaps the problem with this revamped (and censored) message board is that there is no open forum to talk about local media.
If its all going to be about lame thread topics like radio tribute cancelled, and NBC pulls some lame show, then there is going to be NO discussion on here.
Sorry some people got their feelings hurt during the free-for-all, but the managers of this site sat by and watched it all happen without doing anything until it got out of control.
Now this blog has jumped the shark and hardly anyone posts anymore.
There has to be some happy medium between posting on a variety of topics and other areas for more specific discussions.
And yes, the chief meteorologist should have a handle on average temperatures and conditions - its part of shaping the forecast, not just ripping the information off the NWS wires.

Except that when he turned off the wireless, the buzz continued. So it's not his, or any wireless connection's fault. Someone's still got a cell phone on in there. It didn't happen until everyone and their mother showed up for Amy Baker's testimony this morning

Almost every thread on this blog goes off topic. I'm guessing you are new here, or you'd know that.
I actually like Derek & am rooting for him. I have friends over at 5 & if he succeeds, it is good for everyone. I just merely pointed out how his inexperience was showing. I'm guessing even Pat Barry knows the average temps this time of year.
Amy Baker looks like a girl who was an unwanted kid herself, had crappy parents, did the baby daddy routine, got some welfare, scamed the system, fought for child support, looked for someone nice, realized your a pawn in the system, and now your in a trial that will nail the coffin on your sad situation...
