Oscar Night Note
If you're reading the blogs while watching the Academy Awards Sunday night, then here's a shameless plug for colleague Brian Butts' Pop Culture blog. Brian says he and his friends will be serving up a big steaming pile of sarcasm and snarky comments during ABC's telecast. Check him out at

MSTing the Oscars? Love it.
Wish I could find a copy of the MST3K Oscar preview show...those guys were top notch when it came to digging at the excesses of Hollywood.
Here my vote for Ellen D. as the WORST host ever. What were they thinking when they chose her/him.
Her/his lame monologue was strike one.
Her/his reference to Al Gore and its reaction set the tone for the show..strike two.
The sound effects choir was strike three.
Too much boredom in 30 minutes, and we switched it off for reruns of Cold Case.
BTW, tell Ellen that Hugh Heffner wants his PJ's back.
What a typical small-minded, homophobic Cincinnati blog (Anonymous 1:10 PM ).
What's wrong with that?
Yeah, what's wrong with that post? I donn't think Ellen was the worst host ever, but she was bland. The PJ look was a bad choice.
I think ANON 2:05PM is typical of most small minded individuals who try to make something an issue out of nothing, which is unfortunate.

The reference to "his/her" is clearly meant to demean her being a lesbian. Would that OK if it were a comment about Queen Latifah and the poster referenced "watermelon and chicken"?
It's OK to bash the GLBT community but not the other "protected" minorities. That was my point. Got it?
