What's Up With David Rose?
Something's up with David Rose, Ch 9 morning and 5:30 p.m. co-anchor, whose contract is up for renewal. He's the guy who was sent home at about 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, after slurring his words. GM Bill Fee says he was sick, and sent home by a producer. The station pulled the archived newscast off its website by noon that day.
So today, after co-anchoring the monring news today, Fee announced that Rose won't anchor at 5:30 p.m. today or the Tuesday morning news. Strange. Asked if Rose's contract was not being renewed, Fee said: "At this point, I cannot confirm or deny it. At a certain point in the future, I'll be able to comment. When I'm able to say something, I will."
Rose's photo remains posted on the www.wcpo.com website, but his biography was not accessible. I haven't been able to reach Rose for a comment.
On March 7, Fee said the newscast was pulled down as part of the station's work to relaunch its website, which happened last week. Said Fee: "We did not pull a newscast off the website because of anything David Rose did. Absolutely not!"
In an email last week, Rose blamed his March 7 behavior as "a negative reaction to a new prescription.... I assure you there was no other problem this past Wednesday. Regarding (my) contract, we are still in neogitation. That's not unexpected and I feel we are still headed in the right direction. These things just take the time they take."

I wish we knew where David Rose was going next...WCPO really screwed up by letting him go. David is awesome and does his job not only as a professional but he is able to make the News fun. If you ever watched WCPO TV 9 you may have noticed that David Rose was on 24 hours he was always on hand to pick up if someone called in sick... WCPO TV 9 will feel this Huge Mistake in their pockets. Now we have the guy with that horrible voice with the skunk... now I have to say doesn't that stink... let us know where David goes next I hope one of our local networks picks David up and trust me we have already pulled the plug on watching TV 9... I thought they were the good guys... I guess you find snakes not only with Clear Channel .... David We Miss you
Thanks, Donna
I am very sorry to see that David Rose is not on the TV screen when I am getting ready for work in the morning, he was always very informative, and professional in the way he delivered the news. I agree with Donna, he was always on hand if someone else was not there, but a while back, early morning news, noon, then also 5PM, that is quite a day of work there alone! Channel 9 has lost a great anchor man, and will be missed, I do hope he is able to find another station here to continue his reporting before having to move onto another area! David! We need you here in Cincinnati!!!!!!
Brian
David Rose was the main reason I watched the early morning news. He was not only interesting to listen to but also very handsome. Why would you not keep someone who was very well liked? Even if he made a mistake going to work on a prescription that caused an adverse affect, the public is forgiving.
Good Luck David
Dave Rose was the best anchor I have seen in a long time and he will be greatly missed. I wonder if there is something else going on that WCPO doesn't want us to know because it makes no sense that they would let go of such a talented and well-loved guy like Dave. I always thought WCPO had the best morning show and a huge reason for that was because Dave knew how to maintain a professional image and still have fun doing his job. It was a breath of fresh air to see someone who was obviously very handsome, professional, and F-U-N. WCPO's loss, and unfortunnately, Cincinnati's viewers loss as well unless another local channel scoops him up. Sorry Dave, but it looks like no good deed goes unpunished... you worked like a dog and look where it got you. WCPO, you lose.
Still curious -- where is he?
