Channel 19 Weather Update

Here's the latest weather prediction from Steve Ackermann, WXIX-TV (Channel 19) news director: Don't look for an announcement about a new Ch. 19 chief meteorologist until the end of the month, at the earliest.

Frank Marzullo, hired from Youngstown in August, will continue doing the 10 p.m. news for now. Christie Dutton, the staff veteran -- she came from Lexington in May -- will stay on the "Fox 19 Morning News." Pat Barry will do weekends.

Chief Meteorologist Paul Horton left Sept. 30 to do mornings at an Arizona station. Valerie Abati went to Pittsburgh also in September.

Ackermann says he should have a plan to replace Horton before November "sweeps" Nov. 1. But making a decision at that time could mean the third weather person would not arrive until after sweeps end Nov. 28.

I've made the switch to 64 since the arrival of this Frank character. Far too effusive for me.

Off the weatherperson subject I know, but I heard a rumor over the weekend that WGUC's longhaired classical guy Mark Perzel got his long locks cut. Do you know if that's true? Their website still has an older picture of him and its hard to "see" him on the radio when I hear him. Enquiring minds want to know!

If I was 19 I would make a serious run at lary handley for cheif. He has credibility and the chemistry between him and jack and trish would be great.
19's weather dept is becoming like 5 the revolving door is open.
Larry would put a stop to that revolving door.

Chan 19 is our favorite, and the new weather man, Frank Marzullo is a great asset, clear, we know what we are in for in the morning, and his humor and smile will make the snow seem not that bad too. Keep him here.

Here's a scoop for ya John: Pat Barry's last day at Clearchannel is Wednesday.

They should look to pry Michelle Boutillette from Ch. 12/My 64. She is so bootiful and really knows the weather.

They should have hired o'brien when they had a chance.

Kiese,
What's going on with Dave Wagner?

Thanks,

Kiese - are you not checking your posts? This has been on three days with no comments. Or is it that no one cares about 19's weather staff?

Does 64 have a news. I thought they dropped it?

To Anon, 10:18
Ch 64 revived its 10 p.m. news in August 2006. Ch. 12 produces it for Ch 64.

Frank Marzullo comes off to me like he is trying to play a character instead of just doing the weather. After 10 seconds of him, it was so annoying I had to turn it off and just wait the extra hour for one of the other newscasts.

11:53 Anon....I agree. I feel like I'm watching a bad SCTV character. If I want to see Greg Proops, I'll tune into Whose Line.
