Attack Of The Sweeps II: Zoom Zoom Doom

So what's this "Zoom Zoom Doom" sweeps story that Channel 5 is promoting for Monday @ 11? Just caught the tag line of the promo before "SNL" Saturday night. Anyone seen it? I know Channel 9 is promoting a story about testing kits that test for lead paint Monday @ 11. "Are your children's toys safe?"

Kiese,
Enquiring Mind: I have been dying to know why: Channel 9, during ratings period, always has Clyde & Carol anchor on Sundays @ 11 and has Julie O'Neill with Brendan K. (used to be with Brian P) anchor on Friday nights @ 11?!?!?!

Does Ch. 9 REALLY think that having Clyde & Carol at 11 on Sunday and/or having Clyde & Carol work 6 days/week will impress the viewers and/or raise ratings for that ONE month!?!?

Ch. 12 has been #1 at 11 p.m. FOREVER, and they never have Rob & Kit come in at 11 on Sundays. Paula seems to do a pretty good job on her own.

Thanks,

John:

I think the promo is about multiple non-relative passengers in a car with a teen-aged driver, now against the law in Ohio, and the fact that the police aren't enforcing this law. I believe they use the accident that killed the two young girls from Northwest HS in the spring as an example.

I bet it's about teen or elderly drivers...what else goes zoom zoom doom?

The local news doesn't report news anymore. Just tries to scare everyone every day. And talk about the weather for ten minutes. It's why I haven't watched a local newscast in about three years but laugh at all the scare promos they run every night.

did anyone else besides me notice that channel 9, after promoting a story on chad johnson like all last week, decided NOT to air it sunday night. they explained at the top of their show that it would air at a later date due to chad's injury from the game sunday afternoon. what's the deal? if the story was factual then why does it matter if chad got hurt? i don't get it.

JK - You may be a hater, but this was actually a good story. Glad I watched.

John,

Why is it that Good Morning America says on both it's morning show as well as on it's website that they are broadcasting in High Definition, but when I tune into 9.1 on my HDTV all I get is the standard version of GMA? Does channel 9 choose not to carry it in HDTV? If so they need to quit bolstering that they are in HD on every newscast.

I bet the reason why channe 9 did not air the Chad Johnson story when they said they would was because they felt sorry for him after his "injury". I don't know about you, but a real journalistic organization would put all personal feelings aside and air the story when they say they are going to. To me that says a lot about there crediblity.

To Anon 2:20 p.m.:
When Ch 9 started local HD news in August, they said that they couldn't do GMA in HD and do local news ticker across bottom at same time. They said they hoped to have new equipment in place in October to fix the problem. Obviously October has come and gone... so I'll ask them again about it.

John is not a hater. Only someone who calls another person a hater is a hater.

John, you're great. Keep up the good work!
