New GM At Channel 12
I've been able to confirm the buzz going around TV stations tonight that Dotsy Klei, WKRC-TV (Channel 12) acting general manager, was fired late this afternoon. Klei, longtime sales manager, has been running the station since Chris Sehring quit in September to run a station in Portland, Ore.
Giving some comfort level to the Channel 12 staff is the fact that Steve Minium, former Channel 12 news director, has been named interim general manager by Clear Channel. Minium has been Clear Channel news VP, although he was told by the prospective buyers (Newport Television) that he wouldn't be part of the new management team. However, the Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that the $1.2-billion deal for Newport TV/Provident Equity Partners deal to buy the 56 Clear Channel TV stations could be in trouble.
It's been a strange time at Channel 12. Things have been on hold for more than a year, waiting for the station to be sold.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Federal Communications Commission has approved the $1.3 billion sale of 35 television stations owned by Clear Channel Communication Inc. to Newport Television LLC, a private equity group, subject to certain conditions.
ClearChannel sale just went through:

FCC gave their approval, but the sale is still on hold.
I thought Providence was trying to pull out of the deal. How does this approval affect that??
Kiese,
Any word on Dayna Eubanks (where she's at/what she's doing)??
Thanks,
OFF TOPIC
all kristin cornett fans she is now at wmov in st. louis
Its really too bad they are not selling their radio ownership here in ole Mayberry.
Dotsy... Man or woman?
To Anon & RMS:
--Dotsy Klei is a woman.
--Haven't heard a word about where Dayna Eubanks landed. If someone knows, pls post here.
--Kiese
Look at what Channel 9 has done to their employees over the past year:
--dumped Brian Patrick
--dumped Michael Flannery
--dumped David Rose
--dumped Laure Quinlivan
--almost dumped Lisa Cornwell
--cut back the Sports Department
Are they doing all of this to pay for the "HD" stuff?!?!?!
I'd rather see these folks in regular definition than NOT see these folks in HD.
Kristen Cornett landed in St. Louis? Is she on the station web page?
You apparently didn't look very hard because it's right here:

I dont understand how after 25 years of hard work Local !2 can fire such an esteemed employee
Esteemed??? Just ask former employees.
does anyone know what happened to her?
...just maybe he or she will get rid of the awful Liz Bonis...
John,
I have and HD set and for some reason when I watch the evening weather on Channel 9 I noticed that when the weather computer stuff is directly behind Steve Raleigh the HD picture is not as crisp as when I see Clyde Gray and Carol Williams on TV. I noticed that my picture was also the same when I saw Tonya O'Rouke in the room where all of the TV's were behind her on election night as well as the shots with reporters out in the field covering the election results. Are certain things at channel 9 in HD and certain things not? If so why are they lying? I migh justt be too tech savey.
Kristen Cornett was good. Ch 5 should have kept her in the mornings.
9 does not Use HD cameras in the field. As of right now they only have HD Cameras in the studio.
since were talking about kristen cornett again, why not bring up juilette vara?
but even some of the shots for channel 9s weather or the shot with Tonya (I have seen other reporters with that background also) in front of all of those monitors (I believe I saw a breaking news center sign in the background the other day) on't look as clear as others. They look just like the shots of reporters out in the field. Are all of Channel 9's cameras in their studio HD cameras?
Why was Klei fired after such a short stint as GM considering she had such a long career at the station?
