Time Warner Adds NHL Network and Logo

This just in: Time Warner has added its seventh and eighth new channels this month, the NHL Network and MTV's Logo.

The NHL Network will launch on Time Warner's "digital sports tier" on Wednesday, Oct. 31. It will be Channel 340 in Greater Cincinnati and on Channel 530 on former Adelphia systems here.

The NHL Network -- launched in Canada six years ago, but available starting this month in the U.S. – will telecast 50 live regular-season games (subject to local blackout restrictions) in addition to classic games, documentaries, instructional shows, highlights and more, Time Warner says. Hundreds more NHL games are available on the "NHL Center Ice" package that Time Warner has offered for several years.

Also on the sports tier are the Outdoor Channel, Speed Channel, Fox College Sports, NBA TV, Tennis Channel, Fuel TV and College Sports TV.

Logo -- the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender channel -- can be found on Channel 160 in Greater Cincinnati and Channel 180 in Dayton on the "digital variety tier." Logo premiered June 30, 2005.

TWC has launched six other services this month: Fox Business Network, and HD channels for TBS, Food, HGTV, History and A&E.

But still no NFL Network or Big Ten Network. Yeah, I know.

Based on NHL TV ratings, sales of the "digital sports tier" should really take off. Both of the new subscribers will be very happy.

Any thruth to the rumor that BTN would take the OSU-Michigan game to force TW to add the channel? They have the rights to at least one confernce game per team and have not used it yet for the Buckeyes.

Terrific but...and the big BUT, Versus, the network, carries the majority of DAILY hockey broadcasts. It also airs a lot of college football and basketball games and the Tour de France.

How about it TimeWarner? We have HOW MANY religious channels but how about Versus?

For the first time ever... I am regretting having Insight cable.

I've been fighting them for years to pick up Boomerang. I can only imagine the fight I'm going to have to put up to get the NHL Network.

LONG LIVE HOCKEY!!!

John, we do NOT have the SPORTS Tier and get SPEED. It's on the second level of basic Digital I think. It's the ONLy way to watch F1 and lots of NASCAR shows.

I wish TW would come ala carte. I loath, detest and despise that channel two is NON STOP INFORMERCIALS?? ALl the shopping channels AND religious stations. ENOUGH.

Not to mention late night, 70 percent of ALL stations are informercials. RIP OFF

I applaud the addition of Logo - FINALLY! However, I'm committed to DirecTV until July, 2009. Guess they should have communicated better about their intentions.

I'm pretty sure if you had a channel where a camera was trained on a goldfish all day it would have better ratings than hockey.

I looked this morning and the NHL Network wasn't on there yet. What's the word on the activation?

NHL Network was awesome last night! Now if TWC would add Versus, we'd be a better community! LOL
