More on Marc Amazon

Former sports talk host Marc Amazon, who subbed for Tim Lewis on WCKY-AM (1530 HOMER) Thursday morning, says he's been back in town since December... and off the air for more than a year.

Amazon, a 1991 Sycamore High School graduate who grew up in Montgomery, moved to Mason with his wife, Jennifer, and son, from Greensboro, N.C. For the past year, he has been selling syndicated radio shows for Dial-Global, which distributes the '80s music "Backtrax" show 7-9 a.m. Sundays on WVMX-FM ( MIX94.1) and "The Big Time with Whitney Allen" 7 p.m.-midnight Monday-Saturday on country WYGY-FM (WOLF97.3). When he realized he could do the sales job from anywhere, he and Jennifer moved back here.

Amazon was afternoon drive on Clear Channel's 1360 AM from 1998-2000. He lost his gig when Clear Channel hired Lance McAlister and the "Two Angry Guys" from WBOB-AM in late 2000. Amazon moved in 2001 to Portland, Ore., for a sports talk radio job, and then moved cross-country to Greensboro in 2004.

He was asked by Clear Channel's Dave Armbruster late last week to sub Thursday morning for Lewis, who worked the holiday for WLW-AM news (his other part-time job). Amazon says he would consider doing more fill-in work here.

"It was fun. If asked, I'd love to talk about it with them," he says. "(But) it was cool to be on the air again, if they never call me again."

My guess is that someone will call again... From 1530? 700? SupertalkFM96.5? The Buzz?

Amazon sounds like a pro. Pure and simple. This guy is really good. I can't believe he's not on the air permanently and yet Mo and Greg are. If CC were smart, they'd put Amazon on in the morning drive slot, move Tim Lewis (who's not all that bad) into the 9-12 slot and get the two amateurs off the air. Mo and Greg are horrible. Unlistenable. Why would CC can the Angries and everyone else who's decent and put this mess on the air?

Back to Amazon. This guy is too good to not be on the air. Someone should give him a full time gig.

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Fish,Amazon and even Greg Waddell filling in lately. Get some new talent!

It would be great if he could do a regular fill-in on CC and then do Reds or Bengals shows... Maybe take Cutler's spot? That would be FANTASTIC!

Hi, this doesn't really relate, but WOXY.com is off-air this morning!! Any inside as to why? I'm hoping it's just tech difficulties!

Oh the heck with this, let's just get Art Schlichter back on the air and be done with it.

Didn't Jim LaBarbra do sports too and isn't he out of work? He couldn't be any worse than the cast of crap that is on now!

Anon 9:31/Furman, how the heck would anyone know what the ratings for SOAS last night were, already? and just because your wife and kids stayed up so there were three more viewers than last week don't mean squat.

To the Anonymouses(?):
Overnight Nielsen meter ratings here report the next morning the ratings for last night.... But I can't vouch for "SOAS" having best night in five years, I don't have that info...

Marc Amazon is terrible. Doesn't do his homework, doesn't understand which statistics are indicative of performance, and says silly things as a result. I turn him off.
