The new CW's first fall
Most -- not all -- of your favorite WB and UPN shows have survived to become part of the CW's first fall lineup. "7th Heaven" was renewed by CW, after WB canceled it and aired a series finale on May 8. Also back are "Gilmore Girls," "Veronical Mars," "Smallville," "One Tree Hill," "Supernatural," "Girlfriends." But not "Reba," "Everwood" or "What I Like About You."
Nick Lachey's sitcom pilot didn't make the fall schedule, but I'm told its still alive and under consideration for midseason.
Here's the CW announcement:

May 18, 2006 (New York, New York) ─ The CW Network unveiled the schedule for its premiere 2006-2007 season today at Madison Square Garden before more than 3,000 advertisers, affiliates and national media. The announcement was made by Dawn Ostroff, President of Entertainment, The CW.
“With the launch of The CW, we have an unprecedented programming advantage,” said Ms. Ostroff. “By bringing together established hit series with innovative new shows, we were able to create a stellar schedule for our premiere season. Putting this lineup together was a programmer’s dream with so many choices and so many passionate fans making their voices heard about the shows they love. We will launch in the fall with hit shows on all six nights, giving our affiliates a strong foundation to succeed from day one.
The CW will be the destination network for viewers 18-34, and we will deliver quality, diverse programming that advertisers and viewers will embrace in a major way.”
With a strong commitment to diversity, The CW will schedule two original hours of urban comedies on Sunday night. The returning series begin at 7:00 p.m. with EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS, the most acclaimed new show last season, from executive producers Chris Rock and Ali LeRoi. At 7:30 p.m., ALL OF US, from Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, is coming off an impressive season, and will be followed at 8:00 p.m. by GIRLFRIENDS, which has been the most-watched show by African Americans since it debuted in 2000. The new comedy, THE GAME, from GIRLFRIENDS producers Mara Brock-Akil and Kelsey Grammer takes a comedic behind-the-scenes look at the lives of the wives and girlfriends of the star athletes on an NFL team. The series stars Aldis Hodge, Coby Bell, Tia Mowry, Hosea Chanchez and Wendy Raquel Robinson. The 9:00-10:00 p.m. hour will top off the evening with an encore presentation of AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL.
Additionally, the four comedies will repeat on Sunday from 5:00-7:00 p.m., giving the network four hours of programming starring African-Americans on the most-watched night of the week.
Television’s longest-running family drama, 7TH HEAVEN, will return for an unprecedented eleventh season in its familiar Monday night timeslot. Due to the overwhelming outcry from fans and the fact that the series’ ratings were up in key demos last season, 7TH HEAVEN is the perfect platform to launch the new drama RUNAWAY, from executive producer Darren Star. Starring Donnie Wahlberg and Leslie Hope, along with newcomers Dustin Milligan, Sarah Ramos and Nathan Gamble, RUNAWAY focuses on a family on the run from the law until the father can prove he was framed for the murder of a co-worker. Living under assumed identities, the family has to stick together under extreme conditions in order to survive.
Tuesday nights are all about girl power with the return of the award-winning series GILMORE GIRLS, starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, at 8:00 p.m., followed by another critical favorite, VERONICA MARS, starring Kristen Bell, at 9:00 p.m. These highly compatible series will each bring new viewers to the Tuesday lineup.
On Wednesday night, AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL will return in its highly successful 8:00 p.m. timeslot. This super-hit from supermodel Tyra Banks will air two cycles each season, alternating with one cycle of another hit reality show, BEAUTY AND THE GEEK, from producers Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg. Returning drama ONE TREE HILL will continue to build on its already loyal young fan base on Wednesday night.
Thursday night turns on the testosterone with the pairing of two action-packed dramas, SMALLVILLE, starring Tom Welling as the young Clark Kent, and SUPERNATURAL, starring Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles. Both series showed extreme compatibility after being paired together the second half of last season, with SUPERNATURAL retaining more than 90% of the SMALLVILLE lead-in in key demographics.
The wildly popular FRIDAY NIGHT SMACKDOWN! rules the night with two hours of original wrestling extravaganzas 52 weeks a year.

Rock also serves as the narrator of this hilarious, touching story of a teenager growing up as the eldest of three children in Brooklyn, New York, during the early 1980s. Uprooted to a new neighborhood and bused into a predominantly white school two hours away by his strict, hard-working parents, Chris struggles to find his place while keeping his siblings in line at home and surmounting the challenges of middle school. This responsible, resilient adolescent brings a distinct, funny spin to his everyday trials and traumas, in the Golden Globe- and People's Choice-nominated comedy EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS. The single-camera comedy series stars Tichina Arnold (“One on One”) as Rochelle, Terry Crews (“The Longest Yard”) as Julius, Tyler James Williams (“Law & Order: SVU”) as Chris, Tequan Richmond (“Ray”) as Drew, Imani Hakim as Tonya, and Vincent Martella (“Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo”) as Greg. Los Angeles TV personality Robert James has had his fair share of ups and downs in both love and his career, but now he's juggling it all while living with his somewhat self-absorbed ex-wife Neesee as they raise their son, Bobby, Jr. Despite their past history, the two refuse to buy into the old stereotype that being divorced means you can't get along with the ex. ALL OF US stars Duane Martin (“Deliver Us from Eva”) as Robert James Sr., LisaRaye McCoy (“Beauty Shop”) as Neesee James, Khamani Griffin (“Daddy Day Care”) as Robert James Jr. and Tony Rock (“The Chris Rock Show”) as Dirk Black. The series is produced by Overbrook Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television, with executive producers Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jeff Strauss (“Friends”), James Lassiter (“Ali,” “Hitch,” “I, Robot”) and Arthur Harris (“One on One”). The series stars Tracee Ellis Ross (“Hanging Up”) as Joan Clayton, Golden Brooks (“Beauty Shop”) as Maya Wilkes, Persia White as Lynn Searcy, and Reggie Hayes (“Getting Personal”) as William Dent. Melanie’s boyfriend, Derwin, is the new third-string wide receiver for the San Diego Sabers. While Derwin worries about the plays on the field, Melanie learns about the power plays that NFL wives use to get their men the best agents, managers, endorsements, merchandising deals and even the “in” charity. As she deals with egos, groupies and image consultants, Melanie is finding out how THE GAME is played among the women behind the athletes. THE GAME stars Aldis Hodge as Derwin, Coby Bell as Jason, Tia Mowry as Melanie, Hosea Chanchez as Malik, and Wendy Raquel Robinson as Tasha. 36 Comments:
I read that Reba had been picked up for 13 episodes to air midseason in an 11th hour decision. Please verify. I believe the source was Hollywood Reporter
Isn't this airing on WKRC's digital array of channels? My guess is that TW and Insight will run the channel on the digital tier, like they do with WLWT's weather channel, 19's MTV ripoff and all of WCET's multicast channels.
about getting theCW network , if we the consumers dont call tw and insight cable and tell them that we want the new digital channel we might not see it. What i mean by that is cable doesnt have to carry the new network (neither does satellite)so start calling and writing the cable and sat people pleading and begging them to carry the new network because its not a local choice to carry a channel its a corporate decision and the more calls and letters we send the better chance to get the channel(s) we want/need so kiese if you read this we need corporate info so that it can get to the horses mouth alot quicker cause we need to let cable and the stations negotiate to get the channels we would like and need to see on the lineups
Big dissapointment that Nick Lachey's sitcom wasn't picked up, a lot of his fans were REALLY looking forward to it! I would have been a faithful viewer no matter what!
What about Related????? It's the best show ever!
I take it "Pepper Dennis" won't be coming back at all including mid-season? I've started to like that show.
about related, I guess no one could "relate" to it.
I am sorry about the joke but i could not help myself i am in therapy to help my condition
all you need to get the CW in cincy is a digital TV. But it won't be in HDTV. If you want CW in HDTV, you'll need to watch Channel 26 out of Dayton over the air.
Okay, you know what thats stupied that they took out Everwood, Pepper Dennis, Related, and CHARMED the best shows ever, that so retarded they should have just stayed there seperate ways so no one would be upset, me i'm really pissed off!!! Charmed, related, and Everwood were the best shows ever, but Charmed was the best. Oh my goodness this sucks........
i hate what they are doing. I asked will we need cable. If you don't have cable can you still watch. If you can't the CW network sucks.
What about "RELATED" and "EVERWOOD" I am soooooo SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What About One on One that airs on Monday night on UPN. No one mention whether it was cancel or not.
CW SUCKS!! OK...I DONT HAVE CABLE. ALL I WATCHED WAS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE TV SHOW=ONE TREE HILL AND OTHER SHOWS LIKE SMALLVILLE ON THE WB CHANNEL 64. NOW THEY ARE TAKING AWAY ONE OF OUR BASIC CHANNELS WHICH IS THE ONLY CHANNEL ME AND MY FRIENDS WATCH. THIS IS DUMB WHY CANT THEY JUST PUT THE CW ON MY CHANNEL 64 AND NOT THAT NEW DUMB "MY NETWORK TELEVISION" THAT LOOKS LIKE A DUMB SOAP OPERA TV SHOW... NOW I WILL NEVER GET TO WATCH MY FAVORITE SHOW EVER=ONE TREE HILL AND I ALWAYS LOOKED FORWARD TO IT. THIS IS DUMB..RATINGS WILL DROP AND MANY PEOPLE ARE LEFT WITHOUT SOME OF THEIR FAVORITE SHOWS. PLEASE TELL ME...IS THERE ANY CHANCE AT ALL THAT THE CW NETWORK WILL AIR ON MY TELEVISION? I LIVE IN NORTHERN KENTUCKY AND MY BASIC CHANNELS ARE 5,9,12,19,48,54,AND 64..PLEASE IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME..MY EMAIL IS othfan2323 THANKS
The CW wanted to be on station WKRC channel 64, it would've made perfect sense. Unfortunately the owner of the station, Sinclair Broadcast Group (i.e. David Smith), decided to go the cheap route and give their affiliate to "My Network TV." Sinclair apparently didn't like the CW asking for reverse compensation from their stations as well as 3 minute local promotion during primetime hours and also losing 3-5pm weekday timeslots to CW where a lot of advertising is done for the stations.
It sucks because WKRC is the only full power station CW could've affiliated with. You could also blame the CW for asking such ridiculous reverse compensation as well if you think about it. I feel bad though that you won't get the CW. You are in a rare market where this happened. Sorry.
But anyway, in 2009 you will get it when analog transmission ends all TV stations will switch to digital signal and you will be FORCED to get a converter box or buy a TV with an ATSC tuner that can pick up digital signals; if not you won't be able to watch television.
What about what i like about you, twins, reba? they were awesome shows!
I am really pissed off that RELATED and REBA is not coming back and the new line up sucks!!! Who the hell wants to watch wrestling friday night. I loved related and reba.
I am not pleased that all the great shows are gone. Thank you for keeping Gilmore Girls and One Tree Hill but what the hell what about Related and Reba. I had no idea that Charmed, What I Like About You, and Everwood left because of this new "cw". That sucks!!! And I just found out about Reba and Related and that just pisses me off. They were awesome shows I loved them. And to be replaced with crap. that makes me mad cause I was so looking forward to the new season!
what i like about you should not have been taken out. one of the best shows.
I don't like this new cw. All the good shows are like gone! What happened with Related???? This bites!
I am EXTREMELY unhappy and disappointed with "the new CW". They have pretty much killed the reason to watch. I used to call myself "the WB girl" because I watched at least one show on the WB every night sometimes 2 shows.
You have taken away every reason to watch now and you will lose ratings and viewers because of this. To me the only real reason to watch this season is One Tree Hill, because I could just wait until they rerun this season of 7th heaven on ABC Family.
I can't believe that you would not pick up Everwood, Related, What I Like About You and Reba. It's like illegal and ungodly to leave us all hanging with the endings of Everwood, Related and Reba.
I mean really, whats all this hype about Everybody Hates Chris, Veronica Mars, Runaway, and GOOD LORD who watches WRESTLING!?!
Don't get me wrong I like tyra banks but come on now there's too much hype about her shows. I mean it's like one show is teaching you how to be a model and recording every foul thing the girls do and say. The world does not need to see that. Then there's her talk show that's telling everyone that it's ok to be yourself and have flaws and everything. That's basically sending two messages to the viewers...1, that it's good to be a model and be plastered all over the magazines and be looked at by women as an example of how they should look. Which only promotes eating disorders, plastic surgery, drugs and I'm sure many other things. 2, That it's good to have flaws and not be perfect looking all the time and that we should all be happy with ourselves no matter what we look like. Now, I used to watch Tyra when it first came on but I stopped watching about half way through the first season because it was all too blah and predictable. Just the same as every other talk show out there.
In conclusion, basically yer line up sucks and u will most likely lose ratings and viewers. The WB should have never merged. They were AWESOME just the way they were!!! Unless you at least bring back Everwood and Related, you will lose everything that the WB managed to keep alive for 11 years all in just 1 season.
One last request, please put One Tree Hill back in the 8:00 time slot for Wednesday nights. That was the best time for that show because it doesnt interfere with other shows on other channels. Being that One Tree Hill is now the only real reason for me to watch the CW anymore, I would appreciate it if you would take my request into consideration. Otherwise you will lose yet another viewer. Thank you.
One more thing I forgot to mention in my very long comment above....good job on keeping Gilmore Girls alive. But even that show I could watch the new episodes when they rerun on ABC Family. Thank you again.
I think the new station is going to suck! I use to watch at least one show a night on the WB. The new fall line up for the CW has only 2 shows that I will watch, One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls. What happened to Reba, What I Like About You, and is Beauty and the Geek coming back? Who watches Wrestling? Nobody likes that crap! And be done with 7th Heaven already. I think having the new station will lose a lot of viewers and ratings will not be good.
Does anyone know if living with fran, or reba going to show anywhere else?
Thanks for nuttin' CW... you can bet the only show I might watch is 7th Heaven. Why in the world would you drop Reba, Charmed and What I Like About You? Better chance that I'm gonna delete the former WB channel (now CW channel) from my favorites list. This really sucks!
They replaced 8 simple rules for the 4:00 pm and 4:30 pm time slot with that GOD AWFUL Reba....... are you joking me???? Reba............ that stupid hick show.
you people who are complaining about Reba being gone are just dumb. Reba is on for an entire damn hour 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. so rejoice because your awful show is still on CW. instead they took out 8 Simple Rules, which was the superior show in every way. The hell with Reba's bad show. She should stick to country singing (something she's even worse at)
Yall silly white people get on my nerves. All yall talk about is these stupid shows. This is supposed to be a mixture of two networks, but all I see is your shows. What about Half and Half, Cuts, and Love Inc. Yall put all us on Sunday and yall spread out through the week. Now, that tells me that yall just want us to be in one place so yall get alot of viewing time.
What about regular cable and not digital? Will the CW be on there? Please say it will be!
What the heck ever happened to Val and Vic and Holly and Vince? I love what I like about you and here they left it unfinished. Kill me now.
Okay talk about being pissed not only have we lost great shows, but I was really looking forward to Eve, Cuts, One on One, and Half and Half. So I am left with all the ifs and what happened, and so may other questions. It just seems unfair that we never got proper goodbye conclusions from a lot of shows. New with changes is not always better!!!!!!!
I AM SO PISSED OFF!!!
WHAT HAPPENED TO REBA AND WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU!!!!! they were GREAT, AWESOME, WONDERFUL shows. Whoever's responsible for this is nothing but a complete MORON, and deserves to lose their job. The only thing I will watch is One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls, but who knows they could be next? I mean this network seems to be making GREAT decisions (sarcasm here). I will not watch not be watching Everybody hates Chris, the title says it all. Or Girlfriends, and what the crap is wrestling doing on? Who wants to watch that for 2 freaking hours!!!!!Whoever watches that obviously doesn't have all their brain cells. I was a devoted fan for YEARS, back to Dawson's Creek and Fecility. The WB was fine the way they were, they should have kept those stupid shows on the other channel and leave ours alone, and now we will never know how they ended. We never wanted any of this. All we have now are the DVDs for any memory of our FAVORITE shows. I hope the network reads what everybody has to say, and realize what a big HUGE mistake they've made. I promise you I will not be watching those other shows that are a complete waste of time. This is going to hurt their ratings.
All you black people need to shut the hell up too! NO ONE CARES about every body hates chris or girlfriends. It was better when all that crap was on a totally different station
They should have dropped 7th Heaven! When almost all the main characters are gone, that might be a good sign that you need to cancel the show. I tried two episodes this season, and they both sucked, so now I no longer watch that show. Has anybody watched this lately? You can totally tell they are running out of material. They should have kept Reba, and what I like about you it's one hour slot.
I'm soooo sad that Reba will no longer be part of your fall line-up! My husband and I really enjoyed the show....Do NOT like FAKED-UP wrestling! YUCK! Bring Reba back...Please!
The new CW sucks.....Who wants to watch that fake wresteling. I hate that crap. You guys really screwed up when you took off REBA and WHAT I LIKE ABOUT YOU. That was a real bad call guys.Your ratings will surely drop like a rock now. The Friday night line up was wonderful. I still can't believe that you put wresteling on. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?
no longer a 58 fan.....GINA
where's Simon and Simon? it is 1 in the morning, I await for my favorite television show to come on. and i get Lucy?! who wants to see Lucy?! Put Simon and Simon back!
