Q102-WAQZ news
Some behind the scenes changes at CBS Radio here: Patti Marshall, program director for Q102, has been elevated to operations manager for WKRQ-FM (101.9) and “everything alternative on shuffle” WAQZ-FM (97.3). She remains Q102 PD, as she has been for two years.
Julie Evans has been promoted from 'AQZ-FM promotions director to program director, replacing Jeff “Shaggy” Nagel. She started at the station as an intern in 2000.
Marty Thompson is program director for oldies WGRR-FM (103.5) and country WUBE-FM (105.1).
Fox 19 News
No surprise here: Ch. 19 sports reporter Brian Giesenschlag has been promoted to Fox 19 sports director. He replaces Dan Hoard, who left in March to become a minor-league baseball announcer. Giesenschlag and his bosses are looking at candidates for the sports reporting opening.
Kiese-watching
I love a good surprise, and we certainly got one last night on “Survivor” last night when the show put up “to be continued” after the tie vote at Tribal Council. I didn't see it coming; guess I wasn't watching the clock close enough. We’ll have to wait until the Sunday finale (8-10 p.m., Ch 9) to see if Danielle or Cirie wins the fire-building challenge to join Terry and Aras in the Final Three. (My guess is that Danielle or Terry wins the million.) They’ve really worked hard at keeping the show fresh, like with the Exile Island twist this season.
It will be a sad day Sunday when “The West Wing,” one of TV’s finest, ends its run Sunday. Some episodes were rocky after creator Aaron Sorkin quit, but this year has been has been terrific – the Jimmy Smits-Alan Alda campaigns for president, and last week’s excellent show about CJ (Allison Janney) pondering her next career move. I’ll hate to see it go. The finale airs at 8 p.m., after NBC repeats the 1999 pilot at 7 p.m., because the network was too cheap to produce the promised retrospective with cast members. No class!
I’m not expecting huge ratings for “The West Wing” Sunday. It’s up against the “Survivor” finale, the last “Malcolm in the Middle” (8:30 p.m.) and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
And here’s a warning for “Grey’s Anatomy” fans: ABC’s two-part finale starts 10 p.m. Sunday (against the “Survivor” reunion show), and concludes 9-11 p.m. Monday (against CBS’ popular lineup and “24”).

i stopped watching survivor after the all stars. NOW my thursday lineup is all NBC. EArl and THE OFFICE are simply two of the best shows on tv.
Last nights Office was the best i have seen. How could it not win an emmy.
John -- Viewers of Fox network shows each Monday night need your help! Can you find out from WXIX whether Fox will air Pres. Bush's primetime address to the nation on immigration? If so, how will they schedule the season finale of "Prison Break" and the following episode of "24"? Those of us who watch and record these shows have GOT to know! Thanks!!!
What's up with that new station coming to Cincinnati on 88.9? I understand a new Construction Permit has been issued and it will be on the air this summer.
Thanks, Tony! I'm glad to know you check out this blog and can respond so quickly to questions about WXIX. I'll adjust my DVR so I won't miss recording the entire programs...
Another person leaving EYEWITLESSNEWS 5 Bina Roy is leaving to wearabouts unknown she is listed as looking for a job on medialine.com
A little help to the previous poster:
Just because a person lists their resume on MediaLine does NOT mean they are out of a job. It simply means they're doing what they SHOULD be doing: getting their name "out there" and trying to catch the eye of a news director who just might give them their next job.
With that said...
IF Bina Roy is, indeed, leaving WLWT, I say 'good riddance!' She is absolutely, positively A-W-F-U-L and has no business being a fledgling journalist on a television station in a city the size of Cincinnati.
Just another reason why Channel 5 continues to suffocate at the bottom of the ratings heap!
Wow. Bina-Bashing. That's stewpid. Personally, I think Bina is a talented journalist - and quite attractive, to boot. (Hey, it doesn't hurt!) If nothing else, she's certainly a lot easier on the eyes than half the folks on the air at WKRC - who look like they are (1) former newspaper reporters (2) have a "face for radio" or (3) just got off the boat from the island of misfit toys. Bina is intelligent, thorough, and something different from the crop of run-of-the-mill cookie-cutter journalists we see out there all the time. You go, Bina!
I found the finale of "West Wing" very touching. Would have liked to see Mrs Laningham" put in an appearance as Batlett got ready to exit the Oval Office.. And as far as i am concerned Rob Lowe was just excess baggage.

i think most people who think the attractive ones are good journalists think that the person is attractive, and then they justify their thinking with them being a "good journalist." so bina may be a good journalist, but she was probably attractive before she was good....
And WLWT DOESN'T have people with faces for radio?
It's sad that channel 5 "We're the Team!" has gone downhill. They used to be a good newsteam....before the sensationalism. Haven't seen anyone impersonate a homeless person or featured people that no one desired to speak to, like Peck's Edition.

That's nice that you enjoyed the West Wing Finale, as did I. It tied up a number of loose ends and resolved all of the questions presented at the beginning of the year when they all met (in the future) at the Bartlett Library dedication.
There's one problem with Mrs. Landingham making a return. Jed attended her funeral as she was killed in a car accident a few seasons back. That's why Lily Tomlin came in. If you want to see her, though, you can find her in flashbacks and older episodes from the first few seasons.
