Jerry Springer's 3,000?

Who would have thunk it? Jerry Springer’s daytime talk show marks its 3000th episode -- With all the fights, can we call it 3,000 hits? -- with a two-part special Thursday-Friday (9 a.m., Ch 64). Some folks didn’t think his daytime show would last a year when he launched it at Channel 5 in Sept. 30, 1991, while still anchoring the news with Norma Rashid. (In my review of his premeire, I think I used the line, “Don’t give up your night desk job…”) Springer will show clips from the premiere, and some other shows from Cincinnati (Denny, the 800 lb. man), before it moved to Chicago for the second season and they began throwing chairs. So the worst show on TV – according to TV Guide – has lasted 15 years? What does that say about us?

When Clear Channel launches Whoopi Goldberg’s “Wake up with Whoopi” on July 31, will one of the eight Clear Channel stations here pick it up? The most likely candidate would be MIX94.1, right?
Not so, says BobbyD, WVXM-FM program director. Sounds like he'll stick with morning music. His email to me this afternoon: "The Whoopi show announcement yesterday was the first I heard of it. We arecoming off 2 very strong ratings months and feel the more music in the morning angle is working very well for us."

We’ll see Nick Lachey all over the place promoting his new CD, “What’s Left of Me.” He’s on TLR today (3:30 p.m., MTV), after being on “Live with Regis & Kelly” this morning; on Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show” Wednesday; on “Jimmy Kimmel” Thursday; “Ellen DeGeneres” on Monday; and the “CBS Early Show” and Craig Ferguson’s “Late Late Show” next Tuesday.
