Nick Clooney's new TV series
Nick Clooney debuts a new cable series, “Moments That Changed Us,” at 8 p.m. Sunday on the AmericanLife channel (formerly the Good Life channel). The writer and former Cincinnati news anchor interviews retired CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite about his pivotal reporting in 1968 from Vietnam, which helped turn public opinion against the war. A second half-hour airs 8 p.m. Sunday May 14 with Clooney interviewing actress Diahann Carroll, the first African-American woman to star in a TV sitcom. They talk about how “Julia” on NBC in 1968 impacted race relations.
AmericanLife is the TV home for reruns of “I Spy,” “I’ll Fly Away,” “China Beach,” “Crime Story,” “Mayberry RFD,” “77 Sunset Strip,” “Man from U.N.C.L.E.,” “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father,” “Hawaiian Eye,” “Combat!” “Maverick,” “F Troop,” “The Honeymooners” (color episodes), “Welcome Back Kotter” and “The FBI.” It’s Time Warner Channel 141 (on the digital variety tier) and Insight Channel 410 (digital family pak tier).
AmericanLife says Clooney, author of “The Movies That Changed Us,” will continue to focus on the moments that changed American lives and history, and those people that helped to make America a richer place in which to live.

Hey John ,did you see this article about Sinclairs Newscentral basically shutting down?
Sinclair Scales Back News Central
Katy Bachman
MARCH 20, 2006 -
Sinclair Broadcast Group is scaling back its News Central operation, created in 2002, opting to seek out news share arrangements with local TV stations in its markets. Beginning March 31, Sinclair will no longer feed live, anchored prime-time newscasts to its stations. News Central will act like a wire service, sending daily feeds of news content, coordinating coverage of major events and providing Internet and digital news solutions to the 20 of its 58 stations that produce local news.
In keeping with its new strategy, KVWB-TV (Sinclair's WB in Las Vegas) has partnered with Sunbelt Communications' NBC affiliate KVBC-TV for a 10 p.m. hour-long newscast. The program will be produced by KVBC beginning April 6. On weekends, KVBC will produce a half-hour newscast airing 10-10:30 p.m.
"Because the costs to produce high quality local news are so significant, moving to a news sharing partnership with a strong network affiliated station can provide an effective means to bring additional news coverage to the market," said a Sinclair statement.
The KVWB newscast will be anchored by Jim Snyder and Nina Radetich, co-anchors of KVBC's 11 p.m. newscast. Dana Wagner will be the weather anchor. The weekday sports anchor and weekend anchors will be named soon.
As a result of the new strategy, news operations are expected to close down at four of Sinclair's WB stations in Buffalo, Milwaukee, Tampa and Raleigh.
"Our local news staff at our WB stations should take pride in the solid and professional newscasts they produced. We are eager to begin our new mission inn supporting all of our news stations and are particularly excited about the role News Central will play in integrating Sinclair's news franchise on our Internet and digital platforms," said Joe DeFeo, vp and news director for Sinclair.
